Donation Link Usage & Monitoring Policy

This policy ensures that Destream payment links are used exclusively for receiving voluntary donations or tips from viewers, preventing misuse, fraud, and policy violations.

Purpose and Scope

What donation links can and cannot be used for

Permitted Use

  • Receiving voluntary donations from viewers
  • Accepting tips for content creation
  • Supporter contributions without exchange of goods

Prohibited Use

  • Sale of services or digital products
  • Access to content or membership sales
  • Any form of commercial exchange

Onboarding Requirement: All users must complete Destream's verification and onboarding process (as outlined in the Onboarding Framework) before donation links are activated.

Monitoring Framework

How we identify and prevent misuse

Velocity Checks

Unusually high number of donations within short periods

Transaction Value Checks

Donations significantly higher than the user's usual pattern

Donor Concentration

Large share of donations coming from the same donor/donors

Self-Funding Detection

User donating to themselves directly or indirectly

Monitoring Approach

Transaction monitoring is conducted manually by our compliance team and through a business intelligence tool with configured flags to identify irregularities.

While spikes in transactions may suggest misuse, they can also be due to legitimate user events or campaigns. Each case is reviewed in context to distinguish between genuine activity and policy violations.

Irregular Transaction Detection

Identifying unusual patterns and behaviors

Unusual Transaction Amounts

Donations that are substantially higher or lower than a user's usual pattern trigger detailed investigation, including verification of both payer and transaction context.

Unauthorized Transaction Complaints

Complaints from payers are closely monitored. Upon receiving claims, we conduct thorough investigations, which may include communicating with both parties.

Repeated complaints or chargeback patterns trigger enhanced monitoring and may lead to account suspension pending review.

User Activity Review

Validating donation volumes against engagement metrics

Our compliance team assesses engagement metrics (view counts, subscriber numbers) to ensure donation volumes align with the user's content reach and audience size.

Discrepancy Investigation

When significant discrepancies exist between engagement metrics and donation volume, a detailed investigation is conducted. Users may be asked to:

  • Provide supporting evidence of recent activity (links to streams/content)
  • Explain unusual donation patterns
  • Account may be temporarily suspended during review

Enforcement and Actions

Escalation path and consequences

1

Initial Review

Flag suspicious patterns or behavior

2

Enhanced Investigation

Request additional information and supporting evidence

3

Account Suspension

Temporary suspension pending investigation outcome

4

Permanent Termination

Confirmed misuse results in account termination and potential reporting to authorities

5

Transaction Reversal

Platform reserves the right to reverse suspicious or fraudulent transactions

Documentation & Audit

All enforcement decisions follow an escalation path: initial review → enhanced investigation → compliance lead decision. All actions are documented and retained for audit purposes.

Communication and Updates

How and when users are informed

During investigations, users may or may not be informed, depending on the nature of the suspected violation. In some cases, accounts may be suspended without prior notice to protect the integrity of the investigation and prevent evidence tampering.

Note: This policy is subject to updates as regulatory requirements and platform capabilities evolve. Users will be notified of material changes.
